10th Annual Polar Plunge

February 2, 2002

 

 

More than 2,500 people participated in the event and

raised almost $300,00.00 for the Virginia Special Olympics.

 


Emergency Medical Services ( EMS) Standby - 

 

 

Rescue 14:  2 Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances, 1 zone car, and 1 suburban 4x4.

 

Transported two patients to Beach General:  A bystander with a possible fracture arm as a result of a fall on the boardwalk and a Polar Plunge participant unconscious, cause unknown.


Treated on scene and or advice given:  2 Polar Plunge participants.

Virginia Beach EMS Dive Team:  Two Dive Trucks, 2 Surf Boats, 1 Jet Ski, 1 Beach 4-wheel vehicle.

Dive Team vehicles and dive team members from the following cities:  Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News, U.S. Navy, and 1 U.S. Coast Guard Boat.
