In April the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad in conjunction with several other volunteer squads in the city along with the Virginia Beach Fire Department and Sentara Health Care Systems held an MCI drill at Lillian
Vernon's off of London Bridge Road.
Rescue 14 member Winnie Musa an employee with Lillian Vernon was
appointed as the coordinator to bring all the team players from the public and private sector together.
This was a fantastic opportunity for the Lillian Vernon Corporation to test its emergency response system given that their 900,000 square foot warehouse that employees 3,500 people lies within the flight path of the Oceana Naval Air Station.
A 911 call reported a military fighter had crashed into the Lillian Vernon Warehouse.
Volunteer and career emergency response personnel worked together to fight the fire, rescue the victims, established triage-treatment centers and transport the injured to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, a level II Trauma Center.
Congratulations to all the team players and especially to our own Winnie Musa for coordinating and bringing this important task to a successful end.
