BEST EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS
(EMTs) IN THE WORLD
Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad
(Rescue 14) The Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad (Rescue 14) takes great
pride in announcing that the Rescue 14 competition team brought home the
International Basic Life Support (BLS) First Place Trophy for the second year in
a row. The team also returned with the Third Place Trophy for Advanced Life
Support (ALS). The citizens of Virginia Beach should be proud to know that the
Volunteers providing free emergency medical care in their time of need are the
BEST IN THE WORLD!
The Rescue 14 Competition Team consists
of the following: Jack Dye (BLS Captain), Summer Pruette, Judy Jackson, Ann
Morse (ALS Captain) and Jim Heartwell. The Team attended the International
Rescue and Emergency Care Association (IRECA) Annual Conference and Competition.
The conference was held June 20 – 24, 2006 in Puyallup, WA. The 58th Annual
International Rescue and Emergency Care Association Conference and Competition
were specifically designed to allow attendees to mix and match a variety of
educational, competition and networking opportunities. Attendees had the chance
to expand their knowledge in all areas of EMS and Rescue. The IRECA conference
joined the Pile Up in Puyallup Regional Extrication Challenge.
The Competition Team prepares for
International Competition by participating in District Competitions four times a
year and in yearly competitions at the state level. You may have recently seen
our team at Lynnhaven Mall during EMS week. They were practicing there too and
handing out information to help the community stay safe this summer. Each team
member also runs a minimum of four 12-hour shifts a month on an ambulance,
providing emergency medical care to Virginia Beach citizens and visitors. As
members of the all volunteer Virginia Beach Rescue Squad, Inc., we dedicate our
efforts to saving lives, delivering quality emergency medical services and
providing community education and safety. This mission is carried out by
emphasizing: reliable service, quality training, cooperative alliances, and
community awareness. The success of the mission is dependant upon: committed
leadership and membership, public and private investment, continuous education
and state of the art equipment.
We hope that you don’t need our
emergency assistance. But if you do, you know that we will arrive promptly and
bring appropriate medical expertise. We’re proud, with your help, to continue
the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad’s tradition of saving lives. If you
are interested in volunteering your time (either operational ~ medical related
or administrative), please call us at (757) 437-4830 or visit our web site
