On February 11th the members of the
Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad came together for dinner and a
business meeting. The dinner theme evolved around Valentine’s Day.
Our social chair Jenni McFarland provided dinner and the
recruitment-retention team provided each member with a Valentine
rubber ducky.
Jim Heartwell was recognized as the operational
member of the month for his dedication in maintaining our fantastic
website. Haley Rose was recognized as the rookie member of the
month. Haley is a recent EMT graduate and is working towards being
released as an Attendant in Charge.
During the business meeting the squad accepted
a $5,000 grant from the Taylor Johnson’s Group and Fireman’s Fund.
The squad is increasing its fleet of ambulances from six to seven
and the $5,000 gift will be used to purchase a battery operated
Stryker stretcher for the seventh box.
