Emergency Medical Services Annual Picnic
A
special treat for the children this year was a public safety educational
tent setup and staffed by the Virginia Beach EMS Training Division and
the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad [Rescue 14].

Air Show
Rescue
14 working along with many of the other local squads supported the
Oceana medical personnel providing treatment and transport when needed.

local residents stopped by our booth to express support for the work

Allen Stone Run-Swim-Run and 5K
The
race is named after Allen Stone, a local Navy SEAL and a friend of the
organizers of the Brave Heart Run-Swim-Run. Allen was killed in a
training accident.

Great Neck area library re-opened its
doors
The
Great Neck area library next door to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue
Squad Satellite Station 8 re-opened its doors after a
million dollar makeover.

Second District Meeting
The Second District
Meeting was held at Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer
Rescue Squad in Suffolk. Rescue 14 team
members: Jack Dye, Janet Stinson, Shannon Pilch, Dawn Craddock, and Jim
Cromwell.

Marathon
EMS calls were at a record low. A special thank you to our neighboring
squads for sending units and personnel to assist.

Annual Rescue 14 Oyster Roast
Over
3,000 people attended. Bill
Deal and the Rhondels provided entertainment. Cash prizes totaling
$10,000 were given away. Community volunteers assisted with
tickets, cooking, serving, and cleaning up.

Sentara-Virginia
Beach General Hospital Rescue Rounds
Ten
members of Rescue 14 along with volunteers from other local squads
recently met at Virginia Beach General for dinner and a lecture on
Prehospital Care Issues.

Re-certification
Each
January the members of Rescue 14 re-certify in CPR. In
order to accommodate day and night members several drills are scheduled
throughout the month.

Roads Leadership Group

The
Hampton Roads Leadership Group, consisting of area professional business
people, toured the Virginia Beach Municipal Center.

Rescue Council Leadership Retreat
.
The
Rescue Council met at Rescue 14 in Charlton Hall. Virginia Gilpin
represented Rescue 14 during the daylong discussions.
