Chief
Magistrate R. S. Hill, Biography Chief
Magistrate Robert Hill's career as a judicial officer began in 1972 when he was
appointed as a Justice of the Peace for the City of Virginia Beach. In 1974
Bobby was appointed a State Magistrate and in 1981 was appointed as Chief
Magistrate for the City of Virginia Beach, Second Judicial District. Bobby
has served on the Commission on the Future of the Virginia’s Judicial System,
as an advisor to the Committee on District Courts, and on the Courts Technology
Venture Team. Bobby currently serves on the Virginia Magistrate Appeals Panel
and on the Governor's Speakers Bureau, and he teaches criminal and mental
commitment pretrial procedures to law enforcement agencies in Virginia Beach, to
law enforcement agencies on the Virginia Eastern Shore, and for the Department
of Defense Law Enforcement Academy at Little Creek, Virginia. Bobby
continued the family tradition set by his father and in 1968 became a volunteer
firefighter with the Davis Corner Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
While a member at Station 2, he held the rank of Lieutenant of Rescue, Rescue
Captain and Assistant Chief of Rescue. In
1972 Bobby transferred to the ocean-front based Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue
Squad Inc. While with Rescue 14, Bobby has held the rank of Lieutenant,
Sergeant, Training Officer, and Public Relations Officer. He has served as an
Assistant Squad Truck Supervisor and as an EMS Duty Chief for the Department of
EMS. Bobby is a Life Member of Rescue 14 and presently serves as the Rescue
Squad Historian. Bobby has held certification as a paramedic and presently is certified as an EMT-B. ~ top ~ |
